American Swedish Historical Museum

Discover Philadelphia’s roots at the American Swedish Historical Museum. ASHM is dedicated to sharing Scandinavian culture in America–from over 300 years of history in the Delaware Valley to contemporary perspectives on global issues. Through ASHM programs, students can explore Swedish and American culture, art, science, and history. Choose from a variety of programs for Pre-K to 12th grade that take place at the Museum or at your site. Field trip programs are 90 minutes and outreach programs are 60 minutes. All programs include an interactive lesson and a take-home craft project. Program themes include Voyaging Vikings, Swedish Holiday Traditions, Art Exploration, Lucia Festival of Lights, among many others.

The Clay Studio

We offer classes year round in handbuilding, wheel-throwing, and glazing, for people of all ages, from beginner to advanced. Our classes are taught by top practitioners, including our Resident Artists. We are an inclusive and vibrant community where people of all backgrounds, ages, and skill levels can learn, connect, and create art side by side. In order for The Clay Studio to make our programs as accessible as possible, we offer tuition assistance each term so that everyone can join our clay community. Tuition assistance is available to anyone who needs it and no documentation is required; however we do ask for some general income information to better understand applicants’ circumstances. The Clay Studio provides opportunities to apply for either partial (50%) or full (100%) tuition assistance. The Clay Studio does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

The Fabric Workshop and Museum

Engaging the minds and bodies of artists at all levels:
Begin your visit with an interactive tour of an exhibition, followed by a hands-on workshop in our print studio. These workshops are designed to connect to the process, materials, or concepts expressed in the artist’s work. Students leave FWM with a deeper understanding of the artistic process, new perspectives on contemporary art and ideas, and a growing sense of themselves as creative thinkers and makers.
